Susan Siaw (right) is a professor emeritus of psychology at Cal Poly- Pomona. She is from Los Angeles, is a third generation Japanese-American and received her PhD from the University of Southern California.
She went off to college with some trepidation; she was the first to attend college in her family; she had only recently received her drivers’ license and was reluctant to drive. Looking back, she says “Today’s college students seem much more mature and sophisticated than I was at their age, but paradoxically, the developmental psychology research suggests that today’s typical college student experiences more of a sense of instability and feelings of being “in-between” and has less religious faith than previous generations.”
She met her future husband on an elevator in Lexington, KY. They have two sons and two cats.
